Dipped Products PLC (DPL), a global leader in innovative hand protection solutions, has reached a significant milestone in its sustainability journey by securing the prestigious ISO 14064-1:2018 certification for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) verification. This certification underscores DPL’s unwavering commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.
ISO 14064-1:2018 is an internationally recognized standard that provides organizations with a robust framework for quantifying and reporting GHG emissions. Achieving this certification demonstrates DPL’s dedication to transparency, accuracy, and accountability in environmental reporting.
The certification process involved a rigorous assessment of DPL’s offices in Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Italy, as well as all our manufacturing facilities. This comprehensive evaluation covered all aspects of the company’s GHG emissions, including direct emissions from owned or controlled sources (Scope 1), indirect emissions from purchased energy (Scope 2), and indirect emissions from the value chain (Scope 3).
During the period from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, the assessment revealed that DPL emitted a total of 25,735 tonnes of CO2 equivalent, which includes 6,671 tonnes of direct GHG emissions and 19,064 tonnes of indirect GHG emissions.
DPL’s ISO 14064-1:2018 certification aligns seamlessly with its ambitious sustainability goals. The company is committed to reducing its absolute GHG emissions (Scope 1 & 2) by 20% and Scope 3 emissions by 8% by 2030, as outlined in DPL Pulse its ESG Roadmap. Additionally, DPL aims to achieve a 25% reduction in energy intensity by 2030.
Looking ahead, DPL is actively working to phase out its carbon footprint entirely, demonstrating its commitment to the global journey toward net-zero emissions by 2050.
“This certification is a testament to DPL’s unwavering commitment to sustainability,” said Chandika Ratnasiri, Director of Engineering & Projects of DPL. “We believe that environmental responsibility is not only a corporate obligation but also a moral imperative. By quantifying and reporting our GHG emissions, we can identify areas for improvement and take targeted actions to reduce our carbon footprint, positioning DPL as a leading carbon-conscious company in the glove manufacturing industry.”
DPL’s dedication to sustainability is further evident through various initiatives, including the implementation of energy-efficient technologies, waste reduction programs, and investments in renewable energy. Moving forward, DPL will continue annual GHG emissions verification, benchmarking its performance and implementing cohesive strategies to reduce its carbon footprint.
“We are committed to providing our customers with not only high-quality hand protection solutions but also products that are sustainable and responsible,” said Pushpika Janadheera, Managing Director of DPL. “Our customers can trust that our products are made with a focus on sustainability and that we’re taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint. Ultimately, this means our hand protection solutions not only meet customer needs but also align with their values, so customers can feel confident and proud about using them.”
As a global leader in hand protection, DPL recognizes its responsibility to contribute to a sustainable future. The ISO 14064-1:2018 certification reflects DPL’s dedication to transparency and sustainability, as the company continues to lead by example in addressing climate change within the hand protection sector.
